The 91�Թ� and CUPE 3902 Unit 3 reached a tentative agreement Saturday for a renewal collective agreement.

CUPE 3902 Unit 3 represents approximately 1,200 sessional instructors at the 91�Թ�. These employees are engaged in teaching, demonstrating, tutoring and marking, on employment contracts of less than one year.

Details of the tentative agreement will be presented to the employees during an ascension meeting at New College, Wilson Hall, room 1016 today, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m.

Employees who attend the ascension meeting will vote to determine whether the tentative agreement will proceed to a bargaining unit-wide ratification vote. If yes, then polls will open for all employees in Unit 3 and remain open for the balance of this week at locations to be announced by the union.

“We encourage all employees who are CUPE 3902 Unit 3 members to attend the ascension meeting and vote,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, 91�Թ�'s vice-president of human resources and equity. “My thanks go out to everyone on the university and union bargaining teams for their commitment and hard work on this agreement.”

The university has 23 collective agreements with 11 different unions. Thirteen agreements are up for renewal in 2017.

Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 3261 have voted to ratify two renewal collective agreements with the 91�Թ�.

The two CUPE Local 3261 bargaining units represent approximately 1,200 full-time, regular part-time and casual service workers including caretakers, grounds staff, laboratory animal technicians, hospitality workers and athletic attendants. The renewal collective agreements are for a three-year term, July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.

“I am pleased that members of CUPE Local 3261 have ratified these agreements,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, 91�Թ�’s vice-president of human resources and equity. “These agreements represent many hours of hard work on the part of the university and the union. I’d like to thank all of those who were involved for their time and dedication to the collective bargaining process.”

This round of collective bargaining between the University and CUPE Local 3261 began on April 28. The university and union negotiators reached a tentative agreement in the early morning hours of Sept. 15. Information meetings for employees in both bargaining units were held at all three campuses this week and the ratification votes were counted last night.

The university has 23 collective agreements with 11 different unions; 13 agreements are up for renewal in 2017. Members of the United Steelworkers staff-appointed bargaining unit representing approximately 4,300 administrative and technical employees voted on Sept. 11 to ratify a renewal collective agreement with the 91�Թ�. Negotiators for the 91�Թ� and CUPE Local 3261 have arrived at two new tentative agreements.

“I am pleased to announce that tentative agreements were reached early this morning between the university and CUPE Local 3261 Full-Time & Part-Time and Casual units,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, 91�Թ�’s vice-president of human resources and equity.

Information meetings for employees in both bargaining units will be held at all three campuses during the week of Sept. 18, followed by a ratification vote later that week.

“It’s important for all CUPE Local 3261 members to attend one of the information meetings and to vote,” Hannah-Moffat said. “A lot of hard work has gone into reaching these agreements, and I’d like to thank all those involved for their time and dedication.”
