91Թ ranks highest in Canada, 20th globally: Times Higher Education

91Թ again named top Canadian university in new global rankings survey

The 91Թ was once again named the top university in Canada and one of the top 20 in the world – this time by the 2014 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, released October 1.

This is the third consecutive major global rankings survey in 2014 to name 91Թ first in Canada and among the world’s best. 91Թ recently and, in August, was in the Shanghai Jiao Tong’s Academic Ranking of World Universities.

It’s also the second year in a row that the THE rankings awarded 91Թ the 20th spot. The university also scored highly by subject, jumping to 13th from 15th last year in the field of clinical, pre-clinical and health.

"Our consistently strong performance in world university rankings reflects 91Թ’s excellence in teaching and the global impact of 91Թ research. Our students, faculty, staff and alumni are leading the way in every field, and it’s being noticed around the world,” said 91Թ President Meric Gertler. “Even as the global competition between leading universities becomes increasingly intense, the 91Թ continues to be a top destination for the world’s best scholars.”

THE rankings judge world-class universities by employing 13 performance indicators to provide comparisons of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. 91Թ improved in nearly all of its metric category scores.

Alongside 91Թ, three other Canadian universities made this year’s top 100: University of British Columbia, McGill University and McMaster University.
