No medal ceiling for 91Թ’s MacLennan
A trampoline standout and soon-to-be graduate of the 91Թ, Rosie MacLennan captured gold at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico on Oct. 11.
When MacLennan returns home, she’ll be celebrating two milestones: her medal and graduating from the Faculty of Physical Education and Health with high honours.
"Rosie has been an exemplary student-athlete throughout her entire career here at the Faculty,” said Professor Gretchen Kerr, associate dean, undergraduate education. “Winning gold at the Pan Am Games and graduating with high honours demonstrate her exceptional commitment to both her academics and her sport. We couldn't be more proud."
MacLennan was second behind fellow Canadian Karen Cockburn after the preliminary round. Cockburn withdrew from the final with injuries and MacLennan didn’t hesitate. She scored 53.975 points for the victory, defeating Americans Dakota Earnest (51.061) and Alaina Williams (48.380).
“I felt really confident going into the finals and confident with my routine,” she told The Globe and Mail. “ [I’m] pretty pleased.”
