Twelve 91Թ faculty members appointed Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada

has appointed 12 professors from across the 91Թ as Fellows of the society – a recognition awarded to the country’s most distinguished scholars, artists and scientists.

“The 91Թ congratulates the remarkable scholars and scientists receiving this honour,” said Ted Sargent, 91Թ’s vice-president, research and innovation, and strategic initiatives. “This distinction is an important reflection of their leadership and their significant and substantial contributions of knowledge, understanding and insight to our society.”

The new Fellows are:

  • of the Rotman School of Management
  • of the department of Near and Middle Eastern civilizations in the Faculty of Arts & Science
  • of the department of surgery in the Faculty of Medicine and senior scientist at the Krembil Research Institute, University Health Network
  • of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education
  • of the department of medical biophysics in the Faculty of Medicine and senior scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network
  • i of the department of mathematics in the Faculty of Arts & Science
  • of the department of Slavic languages and literatures in the Faculty of Arts & Science
  • of the department of history in the Faculty of Arts & Science
  • of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education
  • of the department of laboratory medicine and pathobiology in the Faculty of Medicine and senior scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network
  • of the department of English in the Faculty of Arts & Science

Granted a royal charter in 1883, the goal of the Royal Society of Canada is to enhance connections between the scholarly, artistic and scientific communities and the larger society in order to promote knowledge and understanding for the benefit of all. 

The new Fellows join 384 members of the 91Թ community who currently hold the designation. They will be inducted at the 2020 Celebration of Excellence hosted by 91Թ Nov. 27.
