Mark Bennett awarded first TDC Ezhishin Scholarship
Mark Bennett, a graphic designer in the 91Թ Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s office of communications, has received the inaugural Type Directors Club (TDC) Ezhishin Scholarship.
Named after the Ojibwe word for “s/he leaves a mark,” the annual $5,000 scholarship was established by the TDC and Google and recognizes “First Nation and Native American people in Canada and the U.S. who exemplify a creative practice that explores typography, type design or relevant linguistic work.”
The designer/art director for Temerty Medicine’s , Bennett is also a part-time architectural studies student at 91Թ's John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design. He has explored typography for several years, and his work was featured most recently in . He also contributed to the new typeface and visual identity of .
Bennett was presented with the scholarship at the TDC ASCENDERS event in New York City on September 7.
