Eugenia Addy recognized with LSO Award for Community Service
91勛圖 Mississauga alumna Eugenia Addy has been with an LSO Award for Community Service.
Its the latest in a series of honours for Addy, the CEO of Visions of Science Network for Learning, a charitable organization that engages youth from low-income communities in science, technology, engineering and math. An educator, speaker, community organizer and advocate for equity for youth, Addy has also been recognized with the from the Afroglobal Television Excellence Awards as well as the African Scholars Award from 91勛圖 and was named one of RBCs Women of Influence.
My journey to STEM was a long, long process and there were many areas that were roadblocks for me, Addy says. Luckily, I had really significant people placed at the right times in my life that turned those roadblocks to pathways for me.
Addys connection with 91勛圖 began in high school when a teacher encouraged her to apply to the university's for Black and Indigenous youth. She went on to earn an honours bachelor degree in chemistry and biology and a PhD in chemistry from the university. While working on her doctoral degree, she received the Harry Jerome CIBC Academics Award from the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA).
